With your help, the Lansing Area Safety Council can provide programming at a low cost or free to those in the Lansing area who could not otherwise afford to attend one of our programs. We also offer many opportunities throughout the year to promote your company during out programs and events. Check out the opportunities below.

Safety Patrol Picnic

For over 70 years Lansing first responders have annually honored our young people who serve as safeties during the school year. The annual Safety Patrol Picnic is the highlight of the school year. If you are a local business or a past safety, consider donating to support the annual picnic. This picnic means a lot to the children who attend and is a reward for all their hard work. It costs a great amount of money to put on the event for the students, this includes food, buses, giveaways and anything not donated as in-kind or giveaways from sponsors.

Safety Awards

Since its inception, the Lansing Area Safety Council has been the gage for community safety in the greater Lansing region. We like to honor our local heroes, from our safety patrols, crossing guards, first responders and others that go above and beyond to make Lansing a safe place for everyone to live, work and play.

Babysitting Classes

Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training (BLAST) course for students ages 11-15. In utilizing the curriculum prepared by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the BLAST course provides training in the fundamentals of childcare, household safety, selecting safe and suitable games and activities, choosing healthy snacks, preventing accidents, developing a babysitting business, and so much more. With your help, we can offer this program free to students of the Lansing School District and other community programs for underprivileged young people. Each class of 16 students costs about $500 to run. Please consider sponsoring a class.

Crossing Guard Training

Adult crossing guards provide a critical role in helping school-age children cross streets safely. The Lansing Area Safety Council along with our partners in the police community conduct annual training for our local crossing guards. We host a training every August for local crossing guards from the greater Lansing region. The programs runs about $1500 to provide instructors and materials for the participants.

First Aid & CPR Training

The Lansing Area Safety Council offers the National Safety Council’s First Aid/CPR/AED course via open-enrollment classes held monthly at our building and at your location for groups of 10 or more people. Our instructors have many years of experience. It is our mission to teach you a life-saving skill, not just sell you a certificate. Our goal is to provide this training for local area nonprofits that serve the community. Many of these nonprofits do not have a budget for safety training so we need to help supplement by providing the classes at a low cost.

Jerry Mills Memorial Golf Outing

Help us support community safety programs in greater Lansing by sponsoring the Jerry Mills Annual Memorial Golf Outing. Each sponsorship comes with a sign at the hole or the tee, recognition and hyperlink on the Lansing Area Safety Council website, recognition in the packet provided to each golfer, and verbal recognition at the event. Hole Sponsor—$125 or Tee Sponsor—$125. Prize donations are also needed for the event.
